Relevant Project Features:
  • High Definition 3D Laser Scanning
  • Topographic Mapping
  • Location of Loading Docks
  • Location of Architectural Details

  •       Dresdner Robin was requested to provide topographic mapping of 43rd and 44th Streets adjacent to the existing New York Times Building. Additional information was requested to detail building information within the loading dock areas.

Dresdner Robin established a traverse within 43rd and 44th Streets in order to prepare a detailed mapping for the building modifications anticipated with the conversion of the existing building to include retail space. Spot elevations were obtained within the streets and surface evidence of utilities were shown. Details were obtained within the loading dock area to include dock locations, spot elevations, and bottom of beam elevations. Façade details were obtained to detail the arches over the loading dock doors to facilitate the insertion of glass to meet the arch design.

Dresdner Robin was requested to obtain some elevation data within the basement areas of the building. Prior the start of the work the client asked if we could provide High Definition 3D Laser Scanning of the basement areas to document the intricate pipe and duct work within the basements. This work assisted the client in identifying the routing of the various utilities throughout the building basement floor to piping clearances as well as pipe sizes. The cost was substantially less than what would have been necessary to provide the same information using conventional survey methods. This work was expanded to include a laser scan of the building façade.

Dresdner Robin provided high definition scans of portions of the façade and met with the project design professionals to discuss the additional information which could be captured utilizing laser technology. The project was expanded to provide additional detailed information within other areas of the building.
