  •       Dresdner Robin was requested to provide surveying services for the locations of obstructions beyond the end of runway 24. Prior to the construction of a new PAPI system for the use of aircraft landing on runway 24 detailed survey work was required to locate obstructions beyond the end of the runway.

Dresdner Robin located critical points along the runway using GPS methods to establish alignment and elevations along the runway. Utilizing GPS and existing aerial photography, obstructions were located within a twenty degree cone (ten degrees each side of centerline) for a distance of four miles from the end of the runway. Aerial photos and an existing obstruction data sheet were reviewed to establish areas where survey locations would be required or existing data updated. Field survey crews were dispatched to the field to locate potential obstructions and to establish local control.

Dresdner Robin processed the data collected and related the work to the aerial photography. Revised obstruction data sheets were prepared and a superimposed mapping was prepared utilizing the aerial photography.
