DRESDNER ROBIN was contracted by the City of Jersey City to manage and deliver the successful completion of the Waterfront Access Corridor Improvements to the intersection of Christopher Columbus Drive and Washington Street.

The project involved reprofiling of the roadway and significantly raising the intersection of Christopher Columbus Drive and Washington Street to eliminate the hazardous flooding conditions and allow emergency access. The project includes roadway reconstruction, drainage improvements, new sidewalks, curbing, and streetscape landscaping.

Our task was to provide construction coordination, on site engineering and inspection services, track construction, monitor the construction schedule and continuously update Critical Path Schedule. DRESDNER ROBIN’s scope under the project included tracking costs during construction, organizing, conducting and documenting bi-weekly job meetings to ensure timely schedule and conformance with the Contract Documents.

In the Pre-Construction Phase, Dresdner Robin staff engineers reviewed the Contract Documents to provide recommendations for adjustments or modifications to fit the work to local conditions. Dresdner Robin reevaluated the street lighting and prepared a lighting plan to continue the decorative lighting pattern established in the adjacent area into the subject access corridor. We provided recommendations and modifications to the landscape plan to coordinate with the proposed lighting. Dresdner Robin reengineered the drainage system to physically work with the complex existing utilities and coordinated major utility relocations and adjustments. We organized and compared the bids and provided a recommendation for awarding the contract.
During construction Dresdner Robin reviewed shop drawings and submittals and made recommendations for processing. We evaluated and processed Change Order Requests, information requests (RFI) and value engineering (VE) requests and suggestions and maintained supporting documentation.

In the field Dresdner Robin monitored and coordinated quality control testing, daily documented the work progress in project records and with photos and video. We developed construction deficiency lists and resolved the issues.

During the close out phase Dresdner Robin prepared a list of outstanding work items, monitored construction through final completion, reviewed as-built plans, manuals and warranties provided by the contractor and assembled a final project record. We certified to the City the Final Certificate of Payment.
