290 Coles Street

290 Coles Street, located at Block 6003 of the Coles Street Redevelopment project, is within Jersey City’s Jersey Avenue Park Redevelopment Plan. The proposed mixed use building features a 14-story residential tower with 670 units overlooking a central courtyard across from the future Coles Park. Dresdner Robin provided design services for civil engineering and landscape architectural scope through municipal site plan approvals. Civil Engineering scope of services included coordination with adjacent municipal infrastructure improvements, stormwater management system design, and site utilities design.

Landscape architectural scope included streetscape design and coordination with adjacent redevelopment projects; design of three rooftop amenity and green roof spaces; and design of an on-grade courtyard. Dresdner Robin coordinated closely with the interior architect to create a cohesive design vocabulary between interior and exterior spaces, providing a comprehensive experience for residents and visitors. The courtyard features a progression of terraced plaza spaces, interspersed with native grass and shrub plantings, evoking the imagery of pools along a meandering river. River imagery is further enhanced by the use of stone features mimicking a dry riverbank that also function as part of the stormwater management system. Terracing and naturalistic plantings are also featured on the rooftop amenity decks. The rooftop design integrates sloped synthetic turf lawn spaces with raised planters to maximize green space.
