Building Repurpose

The redesign and repurposing of existing structures requires detailed measurement of interior space, and structural and façade features. 3D Scanning offers an efficient and highly accurate means of not only measurement but provides a 3D digital model that can be utilized for design. Outputs that we can provide using this type of technology are topographic (plan view) maps, raw point clouds, 2D and 3D CAD models, high-resolution composite ortho-photos, and renderings or 3D visualizations.

In a recent example, this technology was utilized to “fit” a new residential structure to a 2.5-acre multi-level concrete / block parking garage. We used our 3D laser scanning technology to measure multiple levels of this structure and develop a single 3D point cloud of the entire structure. From this data we were able to derive the necessary measurements, sections, and as-built plans to assist the redesign effort.
