To help the Borough envision a safer, more connected future, Dresdner Robin’s Planning team led the development of Connecting Ringwood, a community-driven economic sustainability trails & tourism plan aimed at improving active transportation networks while enhancing quality of life.
Working closely with the Borough’s Economic Development Commission, regional partners, and residents, our team launched a robust planning process. Through public workshops, stakeholder interviews, and an online survey, we gathered deep insights into the mobility needs and values of the community. The message was clear: Ringwood residents wanted a town that was more walkable, more bike-friendly, and more environmentally sustainable.
Dresdner Robin provided a detailed, phased action plan, providing both big-picture direction and tangible, implementable projects. Our work included:
- Development of a town-wide bicycle and pedestrian network with priority corridors
- Street redesign concepts that incorporated green infrastructure and traffic calming measures
- Crossing and intersection upgrades to improve access into and around the Borough
- Cross-sectional design concepts for sidewalks, bike lanes, and shared-use paths
- A realistic, phased implementation strategy including short-, mid-, and long-term projects
The Connecting Ringwood plan was officially adopted by the Borough Council in August 2024, marking a critical milestone in the community’s commitment to sustainable transportation. The project was funded through a Highlands Council Economic Development Grant, underscoring its regional significance.
