Journal Squared
A COMPLETE JOURNEY FROM SQUARED TO HIP
Adjacent to the Journal Square Path Station in Jersey City, NJ, Journal Squared is a highly anticipated mixed-use development consisting of three residential towers with 1,840 units with a strategically designed rooftop, a pedestrian plaza, and 36,000 square feet of retail space. Towers 1 and 2 have been completed and occupied; tower 3 is underway and is expected to be completed in 2024.
We provided environmental, planning, civil engineering, landscape architecture, and survey services. Our environmental services included property due diligence investigations and preliminary assessments, site investigations, asbestos surveys, and remediation cost estimates. We also managed the necessary investigation and remediation under the oversight of a Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) for soil and groundwater, removal of underground storage tanks, geophysical investigations, excavation and off-site disposal of contaminated soils, and construction oversight. A Response Action Outcome (RAO) was issued following completion of the remediation.
Our site-civil engineering included multiple local design approvals and grading, drainage, and utility system infrastructure. Within the newly transformed Magnolia Avenue Plaza and roadway, we designed the new public utilities, such as sanitary sewers and water mains, as well as a new stormwater management system which accepts runoff from the public right-of-way in addition to the site itself.
