BRIDGING CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS
During the construction of Wittpenn Bridge on Route 7 in Kearny, a concern was raised that light fixtures and highway signs were too close to existing high voltage electric transmission lines. So Dresdner Robin was hired to survey the existing bridge during construction.
We used our 3D Laser Scanner to piece together a snap shot of the entire area in a point cloud. From this point cloud, we were able to extract the transmission wires to determine their Max Sag.
We also identified the location of proposed bridge improvements in relation to where the high-voltage lines would sag under a worst-case scenario of maximum voltage and high temperatures. At the end of the day, our finished product was a single-sheet drawing clearly showing where the proposed improvements would fall in relation to the transmission wires.
