Joseph Mele PE, PLS, PP, LEED-AP, CPESC
Director of Civil Engineering
In his role as Director of Civil Engineering, Joseph (Joe) Mele oversees a wide array of land development projects throughout New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. His experience in several marketing organizations also enables Joe to play a key role in Dresdner Robin’s business development efforts and marketing initiatives, often driving the “front end” of projects due to leads from new business and client relationships.
Joe’s expertise in a wide range of engineering disciplines allows him to effectively support his department’s Senior Project Managers as they successfully undertake projects. His 25 plus years of experience in the industry covers a wide range of knowledge and skills. They include: site design, land development planning, stormwater management, roadway design, water and sanitary sewer design, utility layout, erosion controls, septic design, cost estimating, boundary and topographic surveying, subdivisions, and construction layouts. In addition, Joe’s extensive experience in computer aided design (CAD) as well as land surveying and planning have enabled him to streamline design processes and standards, closely integrating services between departments.
Joe has testified nearly 100 times before various planning and zoning boards throughout New Jersey, and he has also been called upon to testify as an expert witness in New York State and NYC. He also serves as a commissioner on his local planning board, the environmental commission, and Chairman of the Master Plan Subcommittee where he has led in the preparation and implementation of the Borough’s Master Plan and steering recommendations of new land use regulation.
Prior to joining Dresdner Robin, Joe served as director for all engineering and surveying practices at an A/E firm in New Jersey and as a senior project manager for a global engineering firm. In both positions, he performed commercial land development engineering services in New Jersey and New York (including NYC).
Joe is a licensed professional engineer in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania; a licensed professional land surveyor and professional planner in New Jersey; a LEED accredited professional; and certified professional in erosion and sediment control. He earned bachelor’s degrees in both Engineering and Land Surveying from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Fairleigh Dickinson University.
